Happy Memorial Day

Per Wikipedia:

Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (May 25 in 2009). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War (it is celebrated near the day of reunification after the civil war), it was expanded after World War I to include American casualties of any war or military action.

On this day where we get together with friends and family for cookouts or pool parties, go to the beach on the first unofficial day of summer and some of us enjoy our day off from work, let’s take a moment to reflect back on all the amazing men and women who have fought and died simply due to their dedication to their country.

To everyone out there in the United States, be safe and have a wonderful holiday!

Thank you to all those who serve and will be serving. I have a good friend in training to deploy to Iraq in September. It is a scary thought of what he might face out there as part of the military police in a convoy security unit. I do know that I could never personally do what those men and women who have served our country do. I am grateful every day for their courage, strength, and dedication. And am truly sorry for those who have lost loved ones in the line of duty. God Bless...
